Well I have to give it up them.  The city of Lebanon Junction had our Flag at half mast on the 7th.  Thank you Mr.Mayor and Council Members.  However, I can't leave well enough alone and the Bullitt County Detention Center and the Court House not so much.  The sad thing is not only is it a show of respect but the Governor decreed that the flag will be lowered on all Government buildings in the state.

You know when you're coming out of you favorite fast food joint and you have your hands full.  All of a sudden WHAM!!!  The Fucking door is locked.  Now, you just walked in the place so you know it's unlocked.  BUT, the silly bastard that works there only unlocked one side.

Absolutely no reason for that nonsense.  NONE.  PERIOD.  I have worked in many restaurants and office buildings over the years and have seen very few instances that require one of those doors to be looked.  The problem is pressure/wind and can be fix.  Either way it burns my ass, unlocked the fucking door.

Two glass doors side by side, somebody unlocked one, right?  I mean I didn't wish my happy ass in there.  Otherwise, I'd be in a bank vault!  Then I'd wish my happy ass to the new home store, etc...  You know those people behind the counter or sitting at the desk are in there snickering to one another, "got another one" "did you see that, he almost lost his coke?".  Shit you're already there.  Reach up or down and rotate that little metal bar.  It's not that hard.  Rather you work in a restaurant, doctors office, or government building, Unlock The Door People.

You know what else really burns my ass?  A flame about three feet high.

KY Utilities Rate Increase

KU is raising their rates.  Not a dollar or two.  9.57% on residential customers, this just after they raised the taxes on our local city customers over 200%.  If your monthly bill was $100.00 as of Jan 1 it will be $109.57.  That's a low bill, wait till mid winter or better yet mid summer when your bill is $300.00 a month.  Cough up another 25 bucks'ish when gas is at its highest.

Just to review our bill is going up better than 9&1/2%.  We pay 3% school tax on that bill, of which neither Jo or I have school aged children in the district. And thanks to the city council (they all should be fired) raised our tax burden to a full 2%.  Go Go Lebanon Junction City Council!!!

Keep a look out, I'm gonna get this council so fired up it'll be like the towns folk going after Frankenstein.

Black Friday

I'm not here to blow smoke up anybody's ass but I do believe in giving credit where it is due.  I went to one BF sale about 12 years ago.  Nothing special, Office Depot had a geek stick on sale so I set the alarm, grabbed a cup of coffee, and drove the 4 minutes to the store.  Of course when I got there they were sold out and I spent the next 4 minutes on the way home bitching about waking up for no reason.

That said, my wife and I went to Wally World this year.  With everything they had on sale it went over pretty smoothly.  They had all the major sale items scattered though out the store.  TV's (tv voucher's) in the grocery department, towels/sheets in hardware, etc..  One could pick up a TV voucher and whatever else they were there for, pay at the register, get in the car, wait just a bit in a line that went to the oil and lube center where they loaded your TV and your done.  There was no freezing your ass off waiting for the doors to open.  Not one little old lady got trampled to death.  Thanks to an abundant staff and local law enforcement no one was fighting over merchandise.

I have to say, Good Job Wal Mart.  You may see me next year.

The NFL

What to say, What to say?  Here's my thoughts.  I really don't care what they do.  It's a private org. and if they wanna fire all the white today it won't hurt my feelings at all.  I think they should have the right to do so.  If they wanna fire (ban) Petterson or Rice for whipping his kid or knocking out his wife, I don't care as long as I know before I put money on the game.  They all have a morality clause in their contracts and if the NFL feels like they violated that clause then they should suffer any consequences the NFL decides.  Now, do I think they should be banned, absolutely not.  I think if daddy thought his child was misbehaving and needed the switch so be it.  As long as the child is not scared for life, none of my business.  Hell, it's none of yours.  When I was growing I had to go get my own switch and if it wasn't good enough I got it twice as bad.  That's if I had the chance to get a switch.  If Mom was pissed bad enough, it was a wooden kitchen spoon, shoe, etc...  I grew up just fine.  If ole girl loves Rice and wants to hang out and get the shit kicked out of her.  Cool.  Nun my bidnes.

However; If you are in the spotlight, like the NFL is, I think there should be some consistencies. This is pertaining to the players from the Rams that came out with their hands raised.  In support of M. Brown and the protest that resulted in the shooting.  I feel that if they are going to allow players to show that support, then Tebo shouldn't get his ass busted for praying.  He should be allow to have bible verses under his eyes.  Guy runs in for a TD he should be allowed to spike a ball.  Or my FAV.    If you are going to allow a show of support for violence then you should be allowed to do the throat cutting gesture.  Bring that back.  Cause me loved it!

I hate Political Correctness.  People everywhere running a round not saying black or cracker or redskin.  You wouldn't believe what a Soldier has to go though before and during deployment.  Not to mention all the BS state side.  Other places can't say Merry Christmas, schools have to say "Holiday Break",  For Fuck's Sake we have a High School in Louisville that now has a male "transgender" student utilizing the female latrines.  All in the effort trying not to hurt someone's feelings.  Well, here is may stance from here on out.  All of you with Feel Feels can go Fuck yourself.  That's right GO FUCK YOURSELF because if I haven't hurt your feelings yet, I will in the near future.

Ebola

Ebola (EVD) is a pretty nasty little thing.  I grew up thinking it's the one thing that would make you want to die.  I learnt that EVD had a 90% fatality and the reason it stayed its ugly ass in Africa was the high, fast kill rate.  That, I liked.  Kinda made me feel safe.  However, with the proliferation of air travel, maybe not so much.  The WHO (no not the ban) has the fatality rate varying between 25 and 90 percent.  I've heard anything from 50 to 75 percent from the news.  Whatever the degree of fire and brimstone, I would rather it stay in the dark continent.  Here's why, Cost.  For this I will stay with the monetary value.

Texas Health Resources (THR) is a nonprofit org that owns the hospital that Thomas Duncan was treated at.  It is estimated that it cost between 25 to 50k per day to treat a patient with EVD.  The only way they will ever recover that amount is though patients at the 24 hospitals, 18 OP clinics, and TAX PAYER DOLLARS.  Duncan didn't have insurance to foot the bill and if he did I'm sure there would be some sort of cap on it.  The hospital has insurance for this scenario but it to has caps.  Since No' Bama's administration refuses to issue travel restrictions.  The tax payers are going to pick up the difference.  No' Bama has already set aside 6 billion (with a B) for EVD response.  That's not good enough for Demoncrat Senator Schumer from NY, he wants an addition 20 million for treating one patient.

The family has settle with the hospital that treated Duncan (a Liberian citizen and the only person to die in the US from EVD) for an undisclosed amount.  Some of the money will go to his parents and two of his sons (yep, still live in Liberia) and to build a hospital in his native land to treat EVD patients.  Josephus Weeks originally condemned the hospital for mistreating his uncle because he was BLACK, POOR, AND UNINSURED.  After the settlement he was quoted saying, "the hospital is outstanding and he looks forward to working with them on building a state of the art" facility in Liberia.

One needs to understand that these are just some of the expenditures involved.  THR also put the fiancée, her son, Mr. weeks, and a family friend in a gated, guarded community during quarantine and the time it took to find new residence.  Four children; including his 13 year old son, were enrolled in a different school system so there is extra busing cost.  I haven't begin to discover the finances on tracking the people on the airplane that one of the nurses flew on from Chicago to Dallas after coming in contact with Duncan.  Then there is the cruise ship that was "lost at sea" because a nurse quarantined herself.  And on and on and on...

Is it the Right, Moral, Christian thing to take care of these people?  Sure.  Do I need protein in my diet?  Sure.  Do I want a big steak every night?  Sure.  Do I get it?  Nope.  It has literally been years since I have walked into a grocery store and bought a steak to grill, YEARS.  I can't afford it.  So I have to supplement my diet with beans and other sources of protein.

Bottom line is Duncan should never been in this country.  THR should never have to recoup that expense.  Those employees and other passengers should not have to worry about contracting EVD.  AND THE TAX PAYERS SHOULD DAMN SURE NOT COVER THE COST.  NO' BAMA HAS ADDED MORE DEBT THAN ALL THE OTHER PRESIDENTS COMBINED.

We have to stop spending money we don't have.  We; as a society, have to start making the hard choices that will insure a future for our children or whatever can be salvage of it.

I would like to know why (breeder or not) if you have dogs, cats, horses, snakes, and/or whatever and you keep producing these animals that you can't afford to feed/take care of properly that you are ridiculed, dehumanized, and are the subject of every ad campaign of groups like the ASPCA.  Hell, most are prosecuted by the local District Attorney facing and receiving jail time, fines, and having their property seized.

However, if you are on welfare (food stamps, AFDC, Section 8 housing, etc..) and continue to reproduce like rabbits "we" not only celebrate the birth  of a new baby but then reward you with a bigger government check.

Where is the personal accountability?  Why are we not condemning these people?  For Gods Sake's we are talking about a human being.  Just a thought but more to follow.

Unions 2

So the UAW raises their dues by 25%.  Here is a link of a letter to the members from the UAW president.  The letter states a robust strike fund is the strongest deterrent to an employer.

I have two questions.  One, why didn't the union have the 350k+ members vote instead of 1100 delegates?  Two, if the union needed money and they take two hours pay per member, per month in dues then why not do what they are suppose to do best and raise employees hourly wage?  Members are happy to make more money and the union makes more money to waste and become more obese.  Sounds like a win, win to me.

At the convention this year the delegates voted to increase the strike fund, now known as the strike and defense fund (so they can screw public sector employees out of more money that would otherwise not have contributed to it and make it easier to squander) by yeas and nays.  Since the vote was close they decided to use the always trustworthy and accurate method of hand raising.  IN A ROOM WITH 1100 PEOPLE RAISING THEIR HANDS!!! MY GOD, SEINFIELD COULDN'T WRITE THIS SHIT.  They also voted to strip the fund of an additional 25 million.  It once stood at just under a billion US dollars, now it's just over 600 million. 

The OPEIU Local 494 (which works for them) says the UAW is spending money like the "housewives of Beverly Hills" among other things.  Other members asked whether leadership mismanagement led to a drop in the fund.  There is a nice little place the UAW has (which is the next link) referred to as Black Lake.  Sounds like a nice place but you don't have to worry, they say your dues don't pay for it just the interest the strike fund makes!!!  Golf course, condos, 241 newly remodeled rooms, Olympic sized indoor pool, weight room, etc, etc...  Can't make this shit up.

With Thanksgiving coming up next week it got me thinking about this fun, family filled holiday.  So, I decided to do some research about the origins.  Among other places, I found myself on one of those family pole web sites (what do you expect, I am from KY).  Come to find out I am 1/128 engine.

You celebrate these "accomplishments" by taking the day off and gorging your fat pasty white selves on one of our majestic indigenous birds, The Great Turkey.  Only the white man could do all this and that is still not enough to make you content.  Noooo.  You gotta follow it up by have a sale.  The Black Friday Sale.

Remember your local Boy Scout food drive.  Mine is this Saturday the 22nd.  You should put some food (non-perishable) in a bag by your door so the Scouts can come and pick it up for the local food pantry or Dear to Care etc...

My advise and what I always do is:  Wait inside by the door and when they reach for the bag SMACK THOSE LITTLE FUCKERS IN THE HEAD WITH A FOUR POUND SLEDGE.

The down side is after a couple of years the scouts get wise and stop coming to your door (unless you get a really dumb one) but that's why it is important to use non-perishable goods.  You can retrieve them and nothing goes to waste.

If you're a girl (or just a pussy) I recommend a 24oz Estwing framing hammer.  Sorry, that's sexist and I shouldn't say that.

Our Constitution allows and guarantees "peaceful assembly".  It does not guarantee rioting, looting, and/or yanking mother fuckers out of their vehicle and bashing their sculls in with bricks.
When this occurs it hurts everybody but it gives an excuse to those that live in that area.  "Hey, crime so high cause they ain't no jobs".  It's hard to get someone to invest in a community if the community is not willing to invest and tare care of itself.  Nobody wants to buy or build a complex to house a business that's going to get broken into all of the time.  Who wants a building that's full of tags on the side, drugs on the corner, and 40's busted all over the lot.  Insurance premiums increase by the zip code.  Then you gotta worry about your employees getting hassled or rolled.  That includes travelling though shit neighborhoods to get there.  It really starts with filling the jobs that are there.  If that means flipping burgers at Mickey D's, so be it.  I don't care if you have to put in 40 at Mickey D's and 40 at BK.  Somebody has to cut the grass.  Somebody has to pick up the trash.  Somebody has to do the shit jobs that nobody wants.  That's why they call it work.  Not fun, not lets roll a fatty, not let's scratch our ass all day.  It's called W  O  R  K for a reason. 

 If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.  Get YOURSELF out of poverty.  It can be done.  People do it every day.  Stop waiting on the government to do everything for you.

Unions

I'm sure I don't need to say this but I will just for shits and giggles.  I will have a multitude of post about the unions (just because I feel like opra and they are a few of my favorite things) so I will title them Unions 1, Unions 2, etc...

I bring this up because of No' Bamas Justice Department has indicted the former CEO of Massey Energy.  Blankenship was at the helm when 29 miners died in the explosion at the Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia.  He is facing 31 years.  I have no problem with this guy getting hem'd up if he was responsible for trading safety for profits.  I understand he is not the only one that has, is or will face charges over this tragedy.  In fact, 52 people have died during his time as CEO and in 2009 there were 515 citations.

My question is, where are the Unions?  I thought the Unions were supposed to get their workers better pay and benefits.  You know better and safer working environments.  You know worker safety and welfare, to vanquish oppression and to hold corporations accountable for their actions.  Yea, I'm sure I've read that somewhere.  I mean these miners are paying for "protection".  These miners are paying to stay out of the "company store".  These miners are paying their "Dues".

So when we have a mining company that has 515 citations the year before an explosion that kills 29, where are the Union reps???  Where are the Union reps saying hey we need to get this fixed now!!!  Where are the Stewarts, the Secretaries, the Vice Presidents, the Presidents of the Unions?  I can tell you that one of the VP's for the UMWA is a VW state legislator.  Can this guy not get anything done?  Hell, VW Senator (D) Jay Rockefeller said the miners were treated with "callousness and open disregard".  If all these people knew of the conditions in that mine, why are they just going after the companies management?  Why is the Justice Department not going after the Union leadership?  Everybody new this mine was unsafe and they are getting paid to "protect" these miners.  I mean (by my count) you got 8 VP's getting paid 145k + per year.  WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING WITH THAT MONEY???  I'd rather be alive then get a raise.  The Union President, Cecil Roberts, make $195,420.00 per year.

What's that money get ya?  A better casket?  Nope, but if you're in western KY and you got an extra 25 bucks in your pocket you can watch Cecil Roberts give a speech.  Those are just a couple of the salaries that I listed.  You have to understand there are many more.  These people have secretaries.  They have goffers and ass gabbers.  Hell, because they are Union, there ass gabbers have ass gabbers.  I don't know what it is yet but they are paying 45k per month to the Triangle Land Co in rent.  $45,538.00 in rent.  Last year for the MLK Conference they spent $31,492.00 at the Sheraton in Philly.  Check these stats and many more at kcerds.dol-esa.gov

BOTTOM LINE, UNIONS SUCK!!!  The UMWA was founded in 1890.  If they haven't found a way to protect your happy ass from 515 violations (in one yr), they're not gonna.  All you're doing when you pay Union dues, is make someone fat.  Later we'll discuss more.

Yea, I lied.  Not on purpose but I lied.  I hate unions and muslims too.  Not necessarily everybody in them just their existence.  I'll explain.

I think that I have known this since I could tell the difference between girls and boys.  I was afraid to come out of the closet because of all the ridicule that comes with boys being with boys and girls with girls.  Do to recent events I decided it was time.  With the Supreme Court getting ready to take the issue up again and Texas legislators trying to push "religious freedom laws", we all need to take a stand.

I am a lesbian.  There I said it, I AM A LESBIAN.  I just happen to be trapped in a mans body.  However, it is true, I like women.  I always have and always will.  Shue, they were right.  It is better to get that off of my chest.  I feel so much better.  Now for the government.

Texas, in all of its glory, is trying to push "religious freedom laws" to allow businesses to decided who and who not to serve.  So, if a restaurant decides they don't want to serve gays, lesbians, etc... they don't have to, on the grounds of religious freedom.  Sound like bullshit?  I think not.  I think the government has no right to tell you how to run your restaurant, bookstore, motel, as long as you are not physically hurting somebody.  If you have a bar and don't want to serve a couple of gay dudes, no problem.  Don't want to rent a room to a black guy, don't.  Motorcycle repair shop and don't want a bunch of white bikers hanging around, it's your loss.  Let the market decided.  It's that simple. If you have a house for rent and it stays empty because you don't like Mexicans, your wallet.  Place stays empty long enough you'll change your attitude.

Fact of the matter is, we all judge, every last one of us.  You may hate black people.  You may hate white people.  You may hate fat people or skinny people.  Doesn't have to be skin color.  Some may have so much disdain for that 300 pound woman at the Wally World checkout buying stakes with food stamps on the first of the month they wait until the fifth to go shopping.  It could be those little derogatory whispers to your friend about that "pretty little blond princess, spending daddy's money", never worked a day in her life.  Or just watching TV saying, "Yea, I could look like her if I had all that work done.

Me, I don't generally dislike any one group of people.  However, I hate stupid people.  Stupid people shouldn't breed.  Period.

If Texas or any other state wants to pass laws that allow people to discriminate, let them.  Just don't patronize the business.  Get enough people doing it and the problem will take care of its self.  We don't not need the government to tell what to do and when to do it.  YOU CAN NOT LEGISLATE MORALITY.

What in the hell ARE we doing?

I chose to start blogging again because I can type five or ten minutes at a time, leave and come back in an hour or so and still feel like I am expressing myself.  For those of you who would like some history check out whatinthehellarewedoing.blogspot.com, it has some good info.  This will be my vision of how the world is and how it should be according to Dave.  However, I can only see so much so if you have something you want me to talk about, let me know.

My first real post for shotovershotout.blogspot.com and I'm excited.  Let me say Thank You to all the vets out there.  I hope you had the day off.  Even Eric.  I'm sure I will be blogging about the VA a lot.  I mean a lot, a lot considering all the bullshit in the news.
I would like to say; outside of a few occasions, I have had nothing but great experiences with the VA.  To all those at the ER, ICU, 6 South and the many other clinics that I have been seen at in the Louisville VAMC Thank You all so very much.  I would be up the creek without you guys.  That includes the civilians that work there every day.  The place could not run without you and I'm sure you get overlooked.
Team 8 and the MHC at New Burg, thanks for giving me a paddle.  I know I don't deserve the awesome care I receive there.
