There's a little place in Louisville, KY's Robley Rex VA Medical Center named Seven North. The staff there are absolutely AWESOME! From the Nursing Aids to the Doctors, just awesome. I recently spent a couple of weeks there before I transferred to a different unit (that's another post).These men and women put up with so much SHIT it's a thousand wonders that they are not in the psych ward themselves. Yes, I could have said that a little more eloquently but I want to make a point here. They put up with some real Bullshit and they do it with a smile.
From young to old, from suicidal to homicidal, from urine to feces, all with a smile. I don't think I've ever seen them not smile. They make me want to smile (and trust me on this, it's not a great place to be). As a matter of fact, they make everyone want to smile. They put up with all of the "normal" things at work PLUS problems at home. They all have mothers, brothers, husbands, wives, etc, etc.... Sick friends and family members, The asshole behind the counter at the gas station, kid's teachers, etc... They have all the bullshit the world has to give them, then they come into work with a smile.
These people are over worked, under staffed, and under paid.
